Open Suse 10.1 - local network

I access the internet over my local network.
I am going to start using open suse 10.1 soon.

How hard is it to set the local network up?

I have never used opensuse before and I am worried that I won't be able to
access the internet to find the help I need once I have installed it.

Any advice?

What does "access the internet over my local network" mean? How exactly
do you access the Internet? Through dialup, a cable/dsl modem, through
another Windows box using ICS?

Are you planning on dual-booting with your current Windows box or
replacing Windows with openSUSE? Will you want to share files with
other computers? If yes, running what operating systems?

What is your network adapter?

I will up grade to a PC running open suse

Currently I am running windows 98

My sister has XP running on her computer which she connects to the internet.

I am connected to my sisters computer using a local area network card.
My sister then shares her internet connection with me.

Really all I want to know at this stage is how to connect to my sisters PC
so I can access the internet, if I can do that then I will be able to post
more questions at a later date
